This is a wonderful picture book. There is a great collection of Railroad trains and railyard photos with many interesting facts. It also has great sections on just Depots and Accident. Many photos feature people and tell a little of the Human side of the Rail industry as well as the train side. I was surprised to learn, upon receipt of the book, that many of the photos were larger towns. I had hoped that it would cover most of the railyards in West Virginia not just a few. I purchased the book hoping to learn more about the Rail Road here where I live. Although the book is mostly larger towns, it is a wonderful addition to any collector or lover of Railroad, Train or Depot merchandise.
This book West Virginia lacks quite lot information about the B&O in West Virginia. Much of the history of the main between Harper's Ferry and Martinsburg along with what exists between Harper's Ferry and Winchester, VA simply isn't there.

My grandfather was section foreman on the famed 17-mile grade on the B & O in West Virginia. He played many other roles on that famous railroad during a fifty year career. This book is full of quality photographs and well-researched historical information. It is the capstone to the history I was given by my grandfather. This book is a must for any railroad lover's library.
The pictures are wonderful - thanks for this book A great example of what Eastern railroading was like in the 1940s-1950s I could have wished for more photos of the line between Grafton and Parkersburg, where my grandfather was an engineer for almost 50 years.
Contained some really nice pictures, including a rare picture of the Cairo station which was destroyed in by a train wreck in 1971. Was disappointed there was not more information on the construction and maintenance of the tunnels. They are what make the West Virginia route so special.
