I love this dictionary & phrasebook! I have purchased several other books to help me in my quest to learn Hindi, but this one has been, at least so far, the most helpful to me. This book includes the following sections: Introduction to the Devanagari Script & Pronunciation Guide A Brief Hindi Grammar Note on Dictionary Entries Hindi-English Dictionary English-Hindi Dictionary Hindi Phrasebook For me, my difficulty in learning the Devanagari Script has made it more difficult to learn the Hindi language through the other books I have purchased. This book is different in that all of the entries in the phrasebook and both dictionaries are given three ways: in English, romanized Hindi, and Devanagari script. In the Hindi-English section, the romanized Hindi is given first and in English alphabetical order, which makes this much more usable to me as a beginner. In addition to this, I like this book's use of "N" to indicate nasalization in properly pronouncing a word that requires a nasalized sound (hāN for "yes"). The explanation of conjunct consonants and basic Hindi grammar are helpful, as are the cultural notes in the back of the book. I am very pleased with this purchase, and I would recommend this book to any beginning student of the Hindi language.Read full review
Its a very good book to grasp the basic of Hindi language. I bought this one for my nephew, I have one myself.
