The A1034 Airport Extreme may be old school, but still a great way to make WiFi a reality for anyone still stuck using dial-up internet service. It has a built in dial up modem that allows connecting to the internet both direct wired or wireless, and supports multiple devices. I use it direct wired to my main computer for a dial up connection, and still have the ability to access the internet with my newer laptop and tablet using WiFi. Not the fastest connection, but being able to connect newer devices that don't have an old school modem built in is a great feature. It's well made, connects as well as most better quality 56K modems, and once set up very user friendly. The only negative is accessing Apples website for updates using dial up. Suggest obtaining any downloads needed using a high speed connection and putting them on a USB drive. Bottom line, if your still on Dial-Up, this is a cheap and easy way to go wireless and highly recommended..Read full review

Much faser than my PC's winmodem on a phoneline. My mac has a solid state memory, so the programs run faster than on the old PC. But if you have a dialup connection, you need wireless. Sitting in front of a desktop computer, waiting for pages to load for 5 minutes each is torture. Just put your laptop aside until it loads, while you do something else. My old mac (OS 10.6+) already had the manager utility and my mac pro connected seamlessly without the manager utility. Be sure to disable the network's wireless auto-address feature if you already are using a network, or just broadcast the apple on another channel (another network name).
I live in an area in the Loess Hills of Iowa, were I am stuck with dialup for a few more years, with no upgrades to this area planed any time soon. Plus I had just bought a new computer with no dialup port. The Apple M8799LL/A was the answer. Now I can use my laptop as well as my new dest top on my slow slow slow dialup with no problem. Great product and works with my iMac and iBook perfectly. I have heard it works with other computers as well.
Works great.
