This is not a review of the album, which has been 5 stars since it was released. I have an original release of this album on vinyl that sounds great, but I no longer own a turn table. I have owned several releases of this album on CD, starting back in the 80's, then the virgin remasters of the mid 90's, etc. Like all of the Stones albums of that era, there seems to be something lacking in the original recordings, which shows up on CDs even more than on vinyl (I am guessing the Stones were not audiophile heads). Because of this, I listened to the Stones exclusively on vinyl; and once I sold my turntable, I resigned to having to deal with harsh, overly-bright sometimes, a muddy mess on other songs (most of the albums of this era are worse than Sticky Fingers). I first discovered the Stones on SHM-CD a few years ago, and while expensive, they are clearly better (not sure why). I only bought Sticky Fingers, because I did not want to spend the money to replace all my CDs again. However, I have since discovered the SHM-SACD (as far as I know, this era of Stones albums and not been available on SACD before). I bought Sticky Fingers, yet again, figuring I could sell my SHM-CD. I have listened to this SACD several times now, and all I can say is WOW!! It gets better every time I listen to it. How do they do it? The difference between the Stones on SHM-SACD and any release of the same albums on CD is stunning! Needless to say, I have now purchased the entire Stones library on SHM-SACD (sadly Exile on Main Street is already out of print and hard to find). If you have a decent SACD player, and are as big a Stones fan as I am, do yourself a favor and grab these up while they are still available. You will love them! And, even if you don't, they are going to be worth a lot of money.Read full review
