Megadeth's 8th studio album, "Risk" released 1999, is in some ways a success and in some a failure. The last album to feature renowned lead guitarist Marty Friedman, Risk shows Cryptic Writings producer Bud Prager's push in the commercial direction for the band. The album is a let-down for the Megadeth fans, as it is almost entirely devoid of metal and focuses more on pop and electronic based songs. Starting off with the fast-paced Insomnia as the opening track, Risk still features many well-designed works from frontman Dave Mustaine and co, including the Megadeth Sports Arena Anthem "Crush 'Em" (Featured on the soundtrack for Universal Soldier 2: The Return), the strong and melodic "Prince of Darkness", and even the all-powerful "I'll Be There", the definitive song from the 'That One Night: Live in Buenos Aires' performance from Gigantour 2005. Whilst not so much a metal record, the album still features some of the hardest efforts of Mustaine, Friedman, Ellefson and Menza and should be considered a great production from some of the greatest musical minds - "Risk" is a truly appropriate title.Read full review

I'm a Megadeth fun, so don't expect bad words from me. Risk, is a record that talks to people who love music. It's not thrash or speed metal, it's fully emotional, I realy love it. Don't think about it, it deserves a place on your shelf
Not the best Megadeth Album but at least it completes The Remastered Collection if your a fan of collecting the remasters of Megadeth to form Vic Rattlehead.
