A time capsule in music, this CD version provides an overview of the original Woodstock happening. In spite of the rain, there is some great music here- Joan Baez, Jimmy Hendrix, the "Fish" Cheer, even some stage announcements. If your vinyl is worn-out, you need to replace it. Thankfully less muddy than Yasgur's farm, the CD sound quality is quite good. If you are of a younger generation, you can still appreciate the great music that was. Recommended.

I was only 14 when Woodstock happened. My cousin Willy went, and was one of the thousands who enjoyed the mud, the drugs, and the music. When I was 15 and into making statements to my parents, I bought the album. Image my surprise when my parents confronted me after to school with, "IS THIS WHAT YOU LISTEN TO???" They had apparently started with the Fish cheer. Amazingly, they believed me when I told them I was horrified that the song was on there, and I never listened to it. With that altered version of the truth, I was able to keep my album. It's great to have it again in CD form. The songs sound just as they did all those years ago. It's a wonderful piece of history. If you were alive in 1969, or maybe not, chances are you'll enjoy this live album.
I bought this CD just because it brought back so many memories of my younger days. I have the vinyl album and wanted the CD, as well, so that I could listen to it in my car. Loved the time and loved the music back then. Nothing like it now, at least not for me. There are other forms of music that I listen to and really like but this music was in a class all its own. Though history repeats itself, I don't believe this kind of music will ever come around again.
I have this on LP and the sound is so much better than this CD , some of the tracks such as Sly and the Family Stone and Santana are very muddled and almost sound mono. Don’t know why it wasn’t re mastered
