If you like the band The Baby's or maybe John's time spent with Neal Schon (of Journey fame) with the band Bad English, then your very familiar with Waite's vocal talents. After his break thru solo career started in the early 1980's he rose to the top of the pop music charts with the earlier hit "Missing You". These 2 cd's on one are mid to late 1980's greatness which reflects one of my personal favorite eras of John's singing career. All of the songs on this cd are outstanding, really not a single bad song on this cd, so if you like his vocals then grab this if you don't already own them because this is a clever way to get 2 outstanding solo cd's by Waite for a lower price than you may pay if you were to buy both single cd's separately. IGNITION tracks are opened up to a general beefier crispier feel and hiss is almost removed from some intros However in some 3 or so tracks the brickwalling of the loudness treatment brings some alerts to good taste The NO BRAKES reworking is not to me positive - brickwalled and hardened overall - better EQ the 1984 original which is smoother and has more natural punchy detail and definitely more separation There appears to be some warping of the sound as in older LP and some echo before the beginning of every track I still find it positive how it does good .. what it does good The ROCK CANDY Ignition rework is thicker overall - some updront presence makes it rock but may become fatiguing I go from one to the other for different flavour 👅
