Hoyt is one of the most underrated singer/songwriters of all time. He was inducted along with his mother into the country music hall of fame. His deep baritone vocals and smooth lyrics flow beautifully in the first half of this cd, which is called less than the song. You can see the pivot of his career in music in this album , if you can call it a career. In Less than the song, he pours out his heart and soul for the world to hear. I sometimes wonder by the rest of the music he wrote, whether he wanted to keep writing like this and was discouraged because it didn't sell as well as others he'd made, or if thos was his one time deep soulful gospel style album. I would love to ask him this question myself. Life machine, I didn't really know if I would enjoy this album or not as I grew up listening to less than the song and loved it's smooth, roughness, and the fact that life machine jumps of the page at you kinda worried me. But after listening to it I found the beauty in his songs here, I just can't seem to get Geronimo's Cadillac out of my head. This album kinda ties Less than the Song and the rest of his musical career together. I love all the music on this entire cd. Hoyt I hope I see you in heaven buddy!Read full review

I am an old-time Hoyt fan. This CD has many songs that I wanted / this is an odd collection putting two albums from two different eras on one cd however
