This album is a good overview of the career of Alice Cooper, from his hits from the 70's to his more recent music. The live versions of some of his biggest hits sound good. This album is recommended as a good starter to an Alice collection. As an aside, go see Alice in concert if you have the opportunity. He was a true pioneer in his field. His shows even today are part rock concert, part horror movie, and part Las Vegas stage show. Even one friend (who does not even like hard rock) that saw Alice in concert with our group was quite entertained by the whole experience.
I bought this CD recently and it reminded me of all the reasons I liked Alice Cooper, despite my head banging absence of several years. Great retro experience. Feed my Frankenstein will take you right back to Wayne's World. Loves a Loaded Gun, Hey Stoopid and Poison round out a well balanced and fun CD.
Pre-filled product information DOES NOT TELL YOU THAT TRACKS 9-14 ARE LIVE VERSIONS OF THE SONGS. Of the hit songs that most people are interested in Poison and Feed My Frankenstein are the original studio recordings. As compared to: Under my Wheels (live and re-recorded) Billion Dollar Babies (live and re-recorded) I'm Eighteen (live and re-recorded) No More Mr. Nice Guy (live and re-recorded) Only Women Bleed (live and re-recorded) School's Out (live and re-recorded) The only song on this cd that is previously unreleased is a remake of the Jimmi Hendrix classic song Fire as sung by Alice Cooper and his band. The band really tears it up on this song (which is good) but Alice's style of singing just doesn't seem right to me with this song. If you are looking for only Poison and Feed My Frankenstein then this cd is for you.Read full review
