Beautiful Creatures to date have two albums. "Deuce" is obviously their second full length album. It was released almost 4 years ago in 2005 and to the best of my knowledge it didn't attract much attention. This isn't a knock against the quality of the music on the album, maybe it's just because of the long 4 year wait between 2001 (when their first album was released) and 2005. The Beautiful Creatures built up some interest in 2001 with their first album. At that time a lot of 80's hair metal groups were experiencing a renewed interest in their music and Beautiful Creatures had the look, sound, and attitude to fit in with this revival. By 2005, the metal scene had begun to take a turn for the more aggressive sound of old thrash and death metal bands (hence new aggressive bands like Mastodon and Lamb of God began drawing a lot of fans). Maybe the members of Beautiful Creatures were aware of this because "Deuce" seems a lot meaner of an album than it's predecessor. The singer sounds a bit more pissed off and I find the guitar work to be better. There are actual guitar solos (some of which are pretty darn good) which seemed to be almost non-existent on the 1st B/C album. I am curious to see if the band will ever get around to releasing another album (I know they are still active). Nevertheless, "Deuce" is certainly no dud and is definitely worth a listen. It's not mind-blowing stuff, but hard rock fans will probably find this album to be enjoyable enough to crank on a summer day with a beer in hand.Read full review
no sophmore slump here, excellent in your face rock, with modernized sound effects but keepin it true to fun hard rockin form, little heavier than the first, but was more than happy to recieve, stand out tracks being " anyone " ," superfly", "never", & 'freedom'.. actually not a bad song here, this is a disc that from start to finish is great, you`ll end up playin` over and over, their debut is great too...
This is a great metal cd. Joe Leste from Bang Tango did a great job on this one! It is a bit heavier than Bang Tango and the first BC release but the riffs will hook you in. If you like catchy metal guitar riffs and the vocal style of Leste this is a must have. The sound is unique and reminissant of old school hard rock.
the creatures are one of the most under-rated bands out there, the second cd (deuce)displays lestes vocals that are up there with some of the best rock lead singers out there, i own this cd already and got this one because my original one is getting worn out i play it so much, deffinitly a must buy for you lovers of in your face rock and roll
The first beautiful Creatures CD was aewsome...this one os missing something, however. Ah yes, DJ Ashba neither wrote nor played guitar on this one. That's the difference. That been said, its not a bad album.
