This is a solid album that has a few killer tracks on it. It is truly a challenge to be a band as good as Amon Amarth and to keep coming out with albums as strong or stronger than the last. I do not think Deceiver of the Gods is stronger than previous Amon Amarth albums. When it comes to the raw sound itself--not the music--I prefer Amon Amarth's mastering style found in Surtur Rising or Fate of Norns and prior. Deceiver of the Gods has less of a gritty sound, but it still packs a vicious punch. When it comes to the musical composition, I cannot say that I like Deceiver of the Gods--as a whole-- better than any other Amon Amarth album. To discuss specifics would be to discuss my personal taste, and so that is not necessary here.
