I tutor mathematics at a local elementary school. High denominations bills, such as this 10 Trillion Dollar note, is great for my unique lessons. I use foreign currency for teaching place value lessons (2nd grade), fun with multiplying zeros (4th grade), and scientific notation (5th grade). Yes, I understand I am well outside Common Core standards for the numbers that I am using. Students seem to want to learn these lessons more after I tell them that I am not supposed to teach it. Special education is a field that I also work with so I purchased a set of Arctic Forrest bills and others. I have students identify animals or birds on each of the bills. Kids like to see something different in class. By using these currency manipulatives, you can reach some kids without them knowing that they are learning. The Yugoslavian set is also a good bargain for high denominations at a relatively cheap price. The 100 Trillion Dollar is a little out of my price range and may be added next year when I add more foreign currency. The banknote was genuine, but bought it as a novelty for a reasonable price. Didn't rate it as good quality, but it wasn't supposed to be. It was advertised as very used and was actually in better shape than I expected. The fact that it had been in circulation was a plus for me.
