I have one of the pre 1982 models of the MEC 600 Jr presses, so I was looking at the new version and trying to figure out what I could adapt to my version that would speed the loading process up some. This is one of the items that I purchased to update my machine. It performs a function that removes one manual step, since you don't have to push the wad guide down before inserting the wad. I also added the auto primer dispenser, the new style bushing slide bar (the one with small rubber like insert near the shot), and the new "U" shaped ejector system. All of these upgrades brought my old machine back to new life.

Installing the MEC Pro Check on my older Sizemaster press ensured that the shotgun shell will stay in place under the wad guide when I lift the handle after dropping shot. Without the Pro Check, I had the occasional shell tip over when I lifted the handle after seating the wad unless I held it in place. Keeping the powder-then-shot sequence correct is only a bonus for me. If you've never loaded on a press with the Pro Check, you may think that it's useless or in the way. Neither is the case in my opinion.

I have used a Pro check on my Mec 700 12 gauge since the mid 70's. After you dump your powder charge it holds the wad guide fingers down so you can easily insert any wads you may need for your load, even the old style card wads. I now have one on my 20 gauge and my 16 gauge also.

Works as good as the one on my other reloader.

This is a great safety upgrade for older MEC shotshell reloaders.
