Another discontinued, but very detailed item from Marklin. This 40' boxcar is made of stamped steel, or tinplate. It is quite durable, however, one must take care not to knock off the brake wheel near the roof at one end. These are available online every now & then, or from a Marklin dealer if a replacement is needed. The walkways (which are the only plastic parts besides the brake wheel on these cars) tend to occasionally warp over time. The car has sliding doors on both sides, which can be left closed, open, or partially open for a realistic look while enroute to its destination. If you like modelling American rolling stock, a few of these Western Pacific boxcars will surely add interest to your consist. On the downside, Marklin has made only one running number for this Western Pacific boxcar. Purists may cringe to see two cars with the exact same number.Read full review
