These are quality made. I own several brands of chisels both new and old and these chisels hold up. The steel will take a razor sharp edge without too much effort and they will hold an acceptable edge. It's a balance between hardness and time spent sharpening and these have struck a good balance. I own a set of Japanese chisels which take some time to sharpen, get scary sharp but need to be used carefully because they will chip. So those have specific uses. These have not chipped and I've put them to some rigorous use. They do have a bit of a rough surface to the overall tang from the machining process but the business end of the chisel is all that needs attention unless you are concerned about the aesthetics. If you purchase a set of the LN chisels you won't see this but you will pay for it. Also the tang thickness on each looks to vary but it's difficult to know if this is intentional or not. Possibly to strike a balance between rigidity and balance as tang widths change? They are lightweight in the hand and have a nice balance. The handles are nice. Do sand the handle where it meets the chisel, hold the tang carefully and firmly and give it a good whack on your workbench and you are ready to go. The leather roll is surprisingly nice. It is real leather and well made and adds to the overall package. In short I really recommend these if you are looking for a good buy and want a great working set that also look nice. Stanley got these right. I wish they would do other tool revivals that were as well made as these because the market for a used set of 750s is getting pricey for a clean set.Read full review

My local shop (woodcraft) sells this set for $230, so finding it online for $160 was a no brainer for me. They are coated when arrive so will need to remove that and give a little fine tuning. Although they were sharp to a degree and could work out of box, I do recommend sharpening and polishing them. The handles/grips do come off easy for quick changes, however a quick sand on the tips and a tap from a mallet will get them nice and tight for use. The leather carrying case is good quality and a nice touch. Highly recommend for beginners and even experienced users.

Quality seems to be very good as far as manufacturing, time will tell how they hold up to hard use. They came with the handles beautifully finished and fitted and the steel finely machined. Right out of the leather pouch they came in they were sharp enough to use but it only took me a few minutes for me to hone to a razor edge on a soft/hard Arkansas combo stone. These Sweetheart chisels seem to be very similar to the Stanley chisels of old that are in high demand today.

These chisels have good potential, however they will need some extensive honing to get the machine grooves off the back and off the bevel. All the chisels had a substantial hollow ground on the back which doesn’t hurt performance, but is unsightly if your like that mirror finish quality throughout. They all sharpened up nicely in the end, but if your going for aesthetics as well as performance then prepare to spend some time and effort honing all faces. The ergonomics are excellent, the leather roll is great quality and overall a great set to have. However, being that I truely only needed 3 sizes, I wish I would have opted for spending the same and getting 3 lie Nielsen chisels.

These are great chisels. I read they were of great quality for the price. I have used several of them already in the short time I have used them. Recommend getting a high quality honing guide, these chisels are well worth the care.
