Love the Web page setup via Lan access; Print is quick and operates cheaply. Windows XP & Vista driver support works great. The unit is huge and extreamly heavy. I put this in my basement abode and really needed another person to do it well. Refills on the toner are very available and affordable. HP is way too proud of their cartridges and I stear away from them. Reason for purchase... I have three kids and a wife that use/need color prints almost as much as I do and I was tired of spending a fortune for ink jet cartriges. The printers speed is nice as well.
Enormous monthly duty-cycle@85,000 is amazing. Basically if it has 300k printed, it essentially is 'like new'. Replacement parts are as cheap or cheaper than an average small laser, jetdirect is useful, as is over the network flashing and management. The ONLY negatives is it is a monstrosity, bigger than it can look in a picture unless it is beside something for reference. It is about 139lbs with all the toner. Print quality is wonderful.
I love the picture quality. The toner cartridges are a bit pricey but the quality of the printing is worth it. I also found that if I google the cartridge number I could find refills at a more reasonable price, $60 to $70 dollars (There is four cartridges). The speed of printing is superb. The duplexing works great and not very complicated to operate.
The printer is an excellent printer. The quality of the prints is excellent and the speed it prints is also excellent. The biggest downfall to the product is the cost of toner. Though the cost per print is far better than many machines having to buy a large cartridge and pay all at once can be difficult.
This model is quite an upgrade from the 4500/4550 series. It is fast, quiet and has virtually no moving parts. Print quality is fantastic. Only drawback is the smart cartridges but it's an OK trade-off. One thing to remember with this series is that you better get the one with the features you want (mainly duplexing) as it is not a simple add on option like previous models. If you buy a non-duplexing 4600/n, that is all it will ever be.
