I purchased this reel last week after reading multiple positive reviews online. After properly setting up the reel, I took it the the local reservoir. All I can say is, wow! I had a texas rigged finesse worm tied on with a 1/8th sinker and could cast that thing a mile! The centrifugal brakes and magnetic brakes worked flawlessly. The reel is very smooth on the cast as well as the retrieve. I caught two bass(a 2 lb and a 2 1/2 lb) in the short time that I had to fish. The 7.5:1 reel winched them easily and smoothly! I also did a little pitching with this setup, and once again, it performed very well! I will be purchasing more of these reels to replace some older baitcaters in my arsenal. I may even try one of the Mach Crush spinning reels also!

Got my new Lew's in the other day !! I have been putting it the test lately !! Have caught dozens of bass on it in a short time up to 4 lbs .....the reel casts very smooth and I am able to get an extra 20-30' farther with it ...we taped out our casts and I am putting my popper frog out there an average of 130' ...impressive !!...the drag reacts well and is easy to adjust ...the large knobs on handle kind of made me leery but they are extremely comfortable and actually help me crank my baits and my fish in ...I can see a couple more of these reels in my arsenal very soon !! Would highly recommend to anyone !!

This is our favorite baitcasting reel. It is light, smooth as butter and casts longer than our other baitcasting reels. It also has up to a 20 lb drag, a 7.5:1 Gear Retrieve Ratio and great eye appeal. If they made this reel in a 6.4:1 and 5.4:1 Gear Retrieve Ratios, we would only use Mach Crush Speed Spool Reels. No need to spend $300-$500 for a baitcasting reel when this reel will get the job done for around $100(if you shop diligently).

Reel was quick and easy to adjust. Centrifugal brakes work very well, only slowing down the bait when the spool spins too fast. Amazingly smooth. Confident, smooth clicks when the spool is engaged. Strong and smooth drag. This reel is replacing an 8 year old bass pro shops reel which cost about the same, but the lews is much better from the get go. Happy with my buy, hope it lasts me another 8 years.

Still learning about how to use a baitcaster. I have been out of fishing for quite a while and didn't realize the baitcaster needed a learning curve with practice and patience, I have been casting in my backyard with a yellow rubber practice plug so I can learn about reel speed, drag, the setting of the magnets, etc. Once I get good at it apparently you can cast really far with good practice.
