This amp is upgraded, apparently it was upgraded by a guy who has a bad reputation amongst the Carver ultra nerds. However this amp is insane. I don’t know how many watts it makes, but I have yet to get the little power lights past the second one because I am afraid of destroying my speakers. Straight awesome and I think it was $350?!?!?

Bob Carver's .t silver seven tube emulation amps give you the best of both worlds! Solid State reliabilty and thanks to the magnetic coil transfer function, a warm powerful awesome sound. I own high efficiency klipsch la scala speakers and goodness me, these Carver .t amps shake the foundations (washing machine anti-vibration pads under the speakers) . I bought one off ebay last month (a M4.0t.) and I have 2 previously bought Carver M4.0t's that haver served us quite amazingly well as the play sources and processing attached to those Carver Amps changed over the years that I've owned them. The values seem to be going up. Good job Bob. Love your new tube stuff too.

I bought my first M-1.0t amplifier new in 1990 and it's been reliable and powerful for 27 years. I have many other amps that cost several times the price of the M-1.0t but few can compare both in power and sweet sound. As stated by another reviewer, the power output indicators will probably never move beyond the two on the bottom row. Only a few times using large Cerwin Vega AT15s or B&W 801 studio monitors at VERY high volume, have I been able to get the higher power indicators to light up. Only negative is that early models of the M-1.0t have a loud turnoff "pop" that is more pronounced on loudspeakers with high sensitivity. With the Cerwin Vegas, it's made me jump on occasion--it can be that loud.

This amplifier definitely sounds better than the Technics it replaced. I did an A/B test and the voices are clearer and the bass is much more solid using the Carver with my PSB speakers. The old Technics was rated 80 watts/channel but weighs twice as much as this 250 watt/channel Carver. The power LEDs don't start moving up the scale until the volume gets very loud and only the bottom two are lit at comfortable listening levels.
