On paper, the 1800FP isn't all that impressive. In fact, compared to the competition, it ranks in the lower percentile... in terms of specifications. But of course, specifications don't account for everything. The Dell 1800FP's main knocks are that it has a response time of 25ms. It also has a rather low contrast ratio as well as average image brightness. It's saving grace however is when the monitor is in actual use. I compared it to several other LCDs, including a Viewsonic and an NEC, and the Dell was actually much more pleasant to use.
This monitor was purchased not working. It was very easy to replace the power supply that is built into the unit. Once it was replaced it was working great. The picture quality and resolution is on par with a flat screen monitor. Buying one of these even if it is not working is better, cost wise, than getting one at a store. If you have the patience I would recommend getting one of these and getting it fixed. Even if it is brand new, it is a great monitor. The only down side, in my opinion is that it is a little bit heavy. So if you get one without a stand attached, make sure that you get a stand that will take the weight. Overall great product. I would give it a B+ or an A-
Although it is an older model and because I have a 3 monitor setup, this size fits perfectly. It is just as great as the more expensive models

Fullyu functional monitors that will be useful for another person. Any upgrade of an appliance or piece of equipment always comes with the problem of what to do with a fully operational but now no longer useful item that could be of benefit to another. Very efficient use of resources and limits loss without having to determine proper disposal and incurr cost in doing such, but can actually reduce cost or make some money offsetting the upgrade expenses. At the same time benefitting someone else who is satisfied with the reduced features or wear of the item.
I bought this monitor to replace an 8 year old Phillips 109B. I have been waiting a while for this because of financial issues (LCD's retail are way out of my range). When I found this on Ebay, I jumped on it. It was being sold at a really great price and DELL is a trusted brand name. The comparison between this monitor and my old one is night and day. I now get higher resolutions which results in much better, sharper, graphics. I also freed up a ton of space on my desk by removing the old monitor (the old flat screen box shaped monitor that weighed about 20 pounds more than this one). Setup was a breeze, simply 'plug and play'. There's nothing I don't like about this monitor. It has exceeded my expectations and I couldn't be happier :)
