Pros: Excellent writing, brings out the vagabond in everyone. Cons: The good makes the lack of morals pictured seem less imoral. Historically, Kerouac's classic is a must-read. It shows the existential/hedonistic roots of the Beat movement while also picturing the Taoistic tendencies of people like Jack Kerouac, Neal Cassady, and Allen Ginsberg. Books like On the Road are particularly interesting and important because they've had such an impact on popular culture, but that's the same reason we have to be careful that we understand what is being said. On the Road isn't just the story of freedom from the established norms, it's an excellent way to see why people would say drug use is important, that free love matters. The writing style is definitely the most uniquely well done style I've come across, but on the whole, the book is depressing. Even in the story format, Kerouac becomes burnt out on the ideals set forth in the book.Read full review

Jack Kerouac make us travel all across America at a lightning speed of the Beat generation. The main caracter and his road friends take us on mad trips and stories. Jack Kerouac didn't go out of his house when he wrote this book which he wrote on a 1 shot non stop, using a special paper to hold the full book in it.
Must read for everyone
