These irons were a golf store display set that appeared to be virtually brand new when I received them. These are the best irons I've hit in my 25+ years of golf. They are very solid feeling and provide exceptional feedback particularly for a cast club. They are considered a players club, but I find they are quite forgiving on mis-hits. My handicap is around 15 and I have no problem using these clubs, so don't feel like you need to be a scratch player to use them. Mine have KBS tour stiff shafts that I like as well.

I went out to the range yesterday to try out my S56 irons. I was impressed with the accuracy and feel of the new clubs. About a year ago I gave my old Pings to my son in law and I purchased some Adams with a graphite shaft figuring that I was getting too old to hit those stiff steel Pings any longer. What a crazy old coot! Not only can I still hit them with my 3/4 swing but the 4 shots I have given away to par since then will be back in no time. What about distance, well I don't know what is good but a 3/4 swing gets me 160 yards with a 7 iron. I'll take that because even on poor hits it will only fade about 10 yards. I'd say that was pretty good for a 67 year old. I can't help but believe those XS KBS C-Taper shafts are really helping me. It was an upgrade that my seller had put in place. Great product.Read full review
These are Ping S56 irons with Project X Flighted 5.5 shafts that are 1/2 inch long. Coming from Ping i20 irons with AWT regular shafts, the Project X shafts perform incredibly. Great balance and feel, good distance and really straight.

Highly recommended...I've owned and played Ping Eye2, ISI S, and most recently G-15s. These are the best Pings I've hit. Bought the G-15s after a layoff due to minor knee surgery. Played the G-15s for about 5 rounds and went back to my Cleveland CG1 blades. Just couldn't get used to the wide sole (like alien wedges!). I am currently a 12 handicap and have been as low as a 9...traded the G-15s in for S-56s and I am very pleased (although I had to explain to my wife why I was getting new sticks so soon...ouch). Great iron and a great compromise between true blades and a game improvement club! Bottom line is if you are a poor ball striker it doesn't matter what you hit. These are very nice, have a nice feel, and are well worth the money.
Ping makes the finest irons on the market. The S 56 model is a player's iron but are more forgiving than the Ping forged model. This set has premium Project X shafts making them the perfect combination. I'm hitting these irons about 10% farther than my current set of Ping I 3+ blades.
