You heard right - Braun ended ALL 100% German blade and shaver fabrication, in 2007. Braun Electric Shanghai, Co. Ltd now produces all Braun shaver and blade parts. Braun parent company Proctor & Gamble cleverly uses a trade loophole where a certain percentage of production has to be performed by country of manufacture. P&G simply ships all the parts back to Germany, for final assembly, testing and packaging.....legally qualifying as "Made in Germany." The very first, China-made Braun shavers were the Series 3/5/7/9 Braun units, in 2008. The last authentic German Braun shaver was the 360 Complete/5 Series, in 2007. Compare the two and you'll quickly see the quality differences!

Buying this shaver was the best decision I have made in a long time. I was getting so tired of the shave creams and the dull blades and the cuts and the bleeding and just the overall messy procedure every morning. This shaver has made shaving something I look forward to rather than dread. The Series 5 550 is a self cleaning model, a feature that sets it above the rest. I feel like I have gotten a closer and cleaner shave after every use. There are many other features that make shaving with it 100 times better than the sloppy, old fashioned way. So it's a no brainer to make the step up.
Battery in the shaver won't hold a charge and goes dead in 60 seconds. Apparently battery is too old or ha been stored improperly because item was new in an unopened box
