The person said "Anyone that owns this book should be in jail..." That may be your opinion, but the actions of the 2 men who planned and carried out the murders, are their own. Think of this book as any other sort of instructional device. For example, this book instructs on death and such... A Martial Arts studio teaches techniques that can kill people... Though the purposes are very different, the techniques in both the book and a "Self-defense" studio can be used to kill a person... I'm not saying I think this is a good book, but to say that anyone who owns it should be in jail, is wrong. If they own, read, and use the techniques in this book, then yes, they should be in jail... But if they simply have it to read and not act on, then let them have it. As far as the publisher is concerned. I think that the publisher had every right to publish it and should not have been held responsible for the actions of the murderers. Should a martial arts studio be held responsible if one of it's students used the techniques s/he learned there, for a violent crime that leads to death? And again with the publisher, They weren't responsible for the actions of those 2 men, but I do believe that they were wrong to allow this book to be published. Given the other types of books they published, this was probably normal, but morally it was wrong... So, in short, I am against the use of the book, but not of people owning it. I disagree with the publisher's morals, but think they should not have been held responsible. :) Just my 10 cents...Read full review
It's funny you know I read somewhere that this book was actually written by a bored housewife living in long Beach, California at the time. If that's true she must have had way too much time on her hands. LMAO certain things in the book do make sense whiles other parts are total bullshit and some are just way out there. Read it for entertainment, but if someone really was looking for a manual for how to become a hitman, there are plenty of better reading materials for that. As well as researching this subject on the dark web.

This is a fascinating book because of its history but is so dated that it doesn’t have the same historical weight. It’s a simple read and if you think like others in the past that is can actually help you be a hit man I’ll put some money on your books because your going to get arrested. It’s a amazing time piece of freedom of speech that will never be published.

After reading "Hit Man", I think you could certainly put it under the category of "Entertainment". After the introduction and into the first chapter, it becomes obvious that this was written by a bull$hit artist. It's funny to read it because it's so incorrect. The only way this book is "dangerous" is that someone may attempt to use it as a serious source to be a professional killer. I think the fact that those who have tried are in jail right now should tell you just how effective a "manual" it is.
It is excellent entertainment or a good read for if something hits the fan.
