The model is made of much thinner plastic that the ones when I was a child. It was easy to put together but you must use a very good glue that works well with plastic to get the parts to stick. You will also need a good set of sharp knives to trim the excess plastic and some very fine sand paper to correct some of the flaws. Once together it looks good, but don't handle it too much

Since it is an older model, there are problems, altho minor, are still problems. The model has a bit of flash in a few areas but that's to be expect and the flash was very minor. The manufacturing process isn't the best (most parts don't align perfectly with their corresponding part and sometimes this misalignment is kind of severe). Water transfer decals don't age well. They become brittle and break if you look at them wrong. I'm just glad I got a kit before the decal backing paper turned yellow. Instructions, decal placement and color legend isn't the best being in black and white but it's not the worst either. Printed in clear and easy to read standard size font (English) and it's an older model kit. Some modification by the builder is necessary in order to make it look it's best (I recommend some kind of gap filler, fine and medium/fine sandpaper, a small, a small file, supports to aid the builder during final assembly because those nacelle struts are very temperamental and like to wander when the adhesive hasn't set/coagulated/solidified/cured/dried/locked the two parts together. The metal tube supporting the whole model is hallow (for those of you who want to light/sound the kit and run an external power supply). Seriously, the nacelle struts at the base (secondary hull), very weak, especially because of all the weight at the other end, so don't skimp on the adhesive...unless you're using the kind that melts plastic like butter in a hot frying pan...then you might want to be stringy with the sticky).Read full review

The good part is for those who enjoy building a model as a hobby. I'm thinking that a Star Trek fan like me and professional modelers will enjoy building this. The bad part is the skill level to building this model can be challenging for children who are under 10 years old. Since this model kit requires glue and painting. Since I see on the product box says Skill Level 2 or 3 I think, for ages 10 to adult. For those who are 10 years and adult must have patience and to work carefully with this model kit.

An old model with new decals that help the end product. Filler is needed for window panels around sauser edge. Molded panel lines can be a real test to detail, but can be fun. The deflector is one piece and will need painting detail and or masking. Can be a real good model with replacement parts and lightning kits available for this kit.

This is the same movie Enterprise kit from the '80s. It retains the superfluous panels added to the tooling after The Motion Picture release. If you are a purist, this kit has several inaccuracies which can be fixed with aftermarket parts. Most hard-core model builders poo-poo this kit, but I like the scale and have a lot of nostalgia for it. Plus, I can certainly make it more accurate if I really want to.
