While it would be nice to review this particular issue of the product, the fact is that I am still on Spanish I. But that said, I am finding the product good enough, so that I have purchased all four levels. I figure, at the rate I am going, it will take me about 2 years to work my way through all four levels. How fast one can go through the lessons depends on two major elements. 1) How much time you have to spend on the lessons and 2) How good you are at memorizing material. I’m not that good at rote memorization, so I have to repeat the lessons many, many times. I’m going through about 2 lessons a week. I am also slowed down by the fact that after every 10 lessons block, I go back and review all ten lessons, basically by just listening and responding, without stopping.
These are excellent CDs for learning Spanish. One thirty minute lesson per day and learning new words all along with excellent repetition in the conversations make it easy to learn and keeps me from getting frustrated with my progress. I would recommend Pimsleur Spanish CDs to anyone.

This product is perfect if you want to learn a language in the car - and have no interest in reading or spelling. If you plan to sit in front of a computer or want to be interactive, there are other choices. However, for learning from CDs, this is outstanding. Use your pause button to get the time you need to formulate your answers. Accept that you won't get every vocab word the first time it's used (they'll come back to it). If I had to pick a weakness, it would be that the kind of person who learns this way is the kind of person who wants to be colloquial, and some of the expressions they use are stilted and formal - or as my Spanish speaking friends say, "that's grammatically correct, but no one would ever say that" - which is exactly not what you want from this kind of program. However, I have to say that in spite of that, this is high quality, excellent program (I've done Italian I-IV as well), and I recommend it enthusiastically.Read full review
Without hearing other Spanish language CD's I have no way of knowing if this is the best. I do know that I didn't start at the beginning since I've studied some Spanish already. But the tape does go quite fast. I have to stop the tape often while I answer the question and then turn the tape back on to see if I'm right.

There are 30 lessons per level (90 in all for these three levels). Having only completed through Level 1, Lesson 24 I went to Bogotá Colombia and Panama City Panama for 6 days. Even with that little bit completed, I was able to be functional and carry out complete, rudimentary conversations in Spanish. Hardly anyone I met in Colombia knew any English so this was invaluable!
