The "E" is for excellent a beautiful if you have a black one. I didn't want to trust a totally automatic exposure camera at first, but the exposures are right on, the shutter is super quite. and the lens is outstanding.

Not in good condition!! Have dust inside the lens. Also the batteries full of sand. After I sent out to the camera shop, the shop keeper said the camera can’t repair

I bought this little gem on the recommendation of a friend, and am I glad I listened to him. This is now my favourite rangefinder, highly recommended

Maybe when it was launched, the Hi-Matic-E was a good or very good camera (in fact it had a good lens, the most important thing on any camera) but the fact that it hadn't a rangefinder in this "full automatic camera" [it means "you can select the shutter speed or the a diaphragm aperture"]with no autofocus turns this camera, today, in something, well, a little useless. This camera could be a good "Lomography" camera, but the lens is a lot better than the usual Lomo cameras had, so with this Minolta, I'm afraid, you will not get those distortionated images they Lomo cameras usually took. So yes, a decent camera, but today, what for?
I did not get it to work. The battery light will not come on with new batteries so I did not rick taking pictures for fear that the expositors would not be correct.
