EXCELLENT READ...We relocated from Los Angeles to the rural Mountains of New Mexico, where we run a very small wolfdog rescue, so I could relate alot to this book. My husband and I have a deep respect for wildlife...love being near nature and also heat our house with wood, so this story really hit home with me..I loved it! City girl moves to the boonies and her world totally changes...LOVED IT! I have purchased 3 of these books for gifts for friends and they all enjoyed it tremendously...and the photos in the book really 'take you there'. I could not put the book down...the author followed her dream, & her instincts...and it worked out beautifully! Courage...enjoy seeing women succeed at life!
Good story and this would make a good movie too! I have seen baby Coyotes here in CA. I respect them and would not kill the mothers. They are God's wild life Angles and have their right in this world. We need to teach how important it is to protect Wild life. Part of the balance of nature. Daily coyote is a special story how a motherless pup was saved by a loving home and wanted to share his story with the world.

I happened to be in a major bookstore around the holidays & this book was on display in the front of the store. I live in the country & love wildlife, so I picked it up & started leafing through it. I knew I had to read it! I bought it on ebay & don't regret it a bit! It was a good book & I definitely recommend it, especially to anyone who lives in the country & have had the opprtunity to see these lovely animals up close & hear them off in the distance. I have always believed coyotes are more than just scavengers & predators & Shreve's experiences demonstrated that & more. The writing itself wasn't the best but was outweighed by the story & pictures. If you read this book, be sure to check out her website! You can sign up for a daily or weekly email update. Makes Tuesday's more exciting!
I appreciate the way the author writes with open-minded candidness about her feelings and how they relate to the very demonstrative opinions others have about wildlife in general, and coyotes in particular. Shreve Stockton appears to know how to involve her readers in her personal growth in living with and in loving an untamed animal and country. She's not afraid to reveal her inner self, including her strengths as well as her shortcomings.
When Charlie the coyote was a few months old, I stumbled across Shreve's blog about a baby coyote she had adopted. I followed his development almost every day. It is truly a heartwarming and funny story about their life together. This book has beautiful photos from the time he was a baby until the time she wrote the book. Great story and great photos.
