This is a great book of clean recipes and simple techniques. Kinda reminds you of why you love to cook and how uncomplicated really good food can be. These days anything labeled "healthy" means flavorless and boring, but the recipes in this book are for most part easy to prepare, ingredients easily available, and, most important, easy to digest. I like the fact that the author gives you basic techniques and basic recipes and you can mix and match and the food prepared according to these recipes is good, and certainly not simplistic
The Art of Simple Food by Alice Waters is a great cook book for everyone from the beginning cook to the accomplished cook. Alice discusses everything from the basics food that you should always have on hand in your pantry, to preparation of more complex dishes. She discusses technique which is important for all cooks to grasp. Alice also emphasizes selecting fresh ingredients in your dishes, this I really like and can appreciate. I recommend that all cooks have this book on hand! I purchased this book as it was recommended by my neighbor, and was glad that I did. It would also make a great gift for a friend or family member.

I had found this book at Barnes and Noble and was excited to purchase it, but did not want to pay full price. I found this book here in Half.com at a GREAT price. It was more than half of the retail price. I couldn't have asked for anything better! I have yet to make recipes from this book, but I am looking forward to getting started. I'm trying to gather all my ingredients and cooking ware before as recommended in the book before I get started with recipes. Excellent experience in my overall purchase!
