Got these to protect my hearing on an extremely noisy ship building project. Found our standard 3M protective headphones to be inconvenient to keep on throughout the day, fairly good protection but heavy and overly insulating to conversation with fellow workers. The Bose have transformed my ear protection habits. I wear them 80-100% of the time I'm working. They are extremely comfortable and the noise canceling is fantastic. I can use them with canceling switched off or on depending on the noise intensity. With noise canceling on, there is a dramatic drop in audio impact and yet I can still hear people speaking to me which is an additional safety plus. At home, I use them to meditate, eliminating all the noise static of refrigerator etc. LOVE the supreme quiet! They're also a boon for taking my computer based work out to coffee shops, blocking out noise whether or not I'm listening to my own music. As far as sound quality for music or video play, I find them adequate for my taste. They may not pass audiophile tests, but I find them comparable to my $100+ Sony and Sennheiser phones. They're great, although if I've got a video going, I need to remind my wife to make eye contact to get my attention, cause I can't hear her or anything above the soundtrack. Super happy with my purchase and well worth the dollars to protect my precious hearing.Read full review

This is a bit dated a product, and there may be better choices for a similar or lower price, such as the Plantronics Backbeat Pro, which I have and are now priced at $114. I got these because the noise canceling was supposedly state of the art, which it might be, and the sound was supposedly great, which it may be. But being wired is a serious price to pay, and the controls, the connections, the build quality, the features are short of where the market is now. The Backbeat Pros have pretty decent noise cancelling, great sound, and a lot more features, more adjustability, and far better build quality. I've got both, and if I had to jettison one, I'd keep the Plantronics Backbeat Pros.

These are worth the price paid as I was in desperate need of relief from constant low frequencies other headphones could not silence. I'm talking day & night noise nausea. I live in a low income apt building, under construction, overlooking a busy intersection and on the same block as a night club. These have helped me cope with the daily & nightly noise that at times have made me feel on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Thanks to these I can finally attain to some relaxation, enjoy a movie and music without hearing the nauseating bass from the night club during the silent parts of a movie or music (the most relaxing 'cos I can finally get into it). Add to that the rumbling of a neighbors Bose theater system 2 rooms away that a pair of less expensive headphones are no match for. Only the QC25's have proven effective against the unrelenting low frequencies. Bose vs. Bose! Listening to music helps cancel out the other sounds of apartment living just fine. The sound quality is excellent and the better the recording/mix the better they sound. A touch of frequency/tonal shaping can be recognized but it is well balanced and keeps listening fatigue to a minimum. I can listen to these longer than the less expensive headphones I own. As regards comfort, they are like a good pair of shoes. They feel comfy when you first put them on but I still needed to get used to them a few wears. Personally, I like to take short breaks from wearing them every hour or so. And reserve my "wear time" for the evenings when I really need them to relax and enjoy my new apt for once. From now on I will always need a pair of these. Hope this helps someone else with the same issues. Instead of settling for the $49 & then $89-$109 pair. Wait and save for the time it takes to get the QC25's. Read full review

My husband recently had surgery on his ear and must have his sound turned up very high. My desktop computer is near his laptop and when I put on the Bose headset with the noise canceling feature turned on, it is almost as if he turns his sound the the lowest degree possible. I was able to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" as I have in the past while he was watching an old "Gunsmoke!" What a blessing this headset has already been to these two "old codgers!"

An outstanding pair of travel headphones. No comparison in comfort & noise cancellation to Beats SW which I also own (Xmas present). More compact than BSW. Audio superior to BSW (IMHO) and love the fact that when you lose power, you simple use a new AAA battery and your back to listening. No recharge wait time experienced with BSW. Bose QC25 are not bluetooth but I took a chance on pairing them with "btunes" which provides the bluetooth interface without significant audio loss.
