This book has short chapters, about 10 pages long. It has funny stories about authors and the origin of children's literature. There are list of great children's literature books in the end of each chapter. There is a section in this text that discusses picture books and shows the illustrations of some of the author's favorite books. This is a great book all around!!!!
This book is a fantastic resource. I bought it as a guide to my Children's Lit class and I have loved it. It's not a text book, but is a great guide to a huge selection of quality children's books that exist in the world. Well worth it to have it in your home, especially if you are a mother/teacher/care-giver of children.
this is a great textbook that illustrates the makings of what a good book is, and other literary elements. plenty of information and packed with ideas and good reads. the cheapest i found the book was here on ebay
