We have three lovable, but loud-mouthed chihuahuas which are very difficult to get through to at times. This little miracle worker gets through to them every time. We say "Quiet" and hit the button, and. hey presto! they quit barking. Our dogs are not afraid of it, but they do respect it. It is small and lightweight, and fits my hand or pocket nicely for easy use. It seems to do no damage to the dogs, and a very short burst is enough to get their attention. I let them know when they are good. The Bark Genie lets them know when they are not! The Bark Genie's only inconvenient problem is that it needs a tighter battery cover. I had to secure the cover with a zip-tie, but I highly recommend it to help train problem barkers.

Three dogs in our home. So you can only imagine the amount of working we have. My husband and myself have both tried the button, and held it down for a long. Of time lightly pressed it and let go. None of the ways we have tried it seem to work. We put brand new batteries in it when we receive the item so I do not know if it is just defective or one of those gadgets that get your hopes up, but when you receive it don't work. Wishful thinking but I would not recommend this product to friends or family.

....the dogs were unwilling to bark as much for fear of the sound. I guess you could say "I barked back" EASY to use You cannot use it for dog further than say 15ft. But if you have dogs within a few feet and they dont understand it is a gadget in your hands ..... very powerful tool.

Our labradoddle Willow, really dislikes the neighbor's dog and all moving things on the outside. She objects with very loud, continuous barking. The Bark Genie gets her attention and stops the barking 90% of the time. Catching the barking early is most effective. The 15 foot rule for using the Bark Genie is pretty accurate, close is better.

My daughter has a chihuahua, and when she comes to visit with her infant daughter, it never fails that this little dog has to yip very loudly whenever it sees someone on the street - often waking the baby if she is asleep. My daughter was in the habit of just yelling No or Stop, but of course this is not a consequence that effectively stops such behavior. We crossed our fingers the first time we tried Bark Genie, and to our delight, she stopped mid-yip, lowered her ears, and looked around. We only had to use it a couple of times until all we have to do now is say No and hold the wand so she can see it. (I also have a dog - a larger pit bull mix, and she apparently can hear it too, but is not a behavior problem, so I'm glad this worked so quickly because I don't want my dog to "worry" about why she's hearing this sound.)Read full review
