Excellent product, excellent design, excellent materials. In fact, I only have one criticism. The battery in my unit is a rechargeable NiCad. The squirrels in my Minnesota neighborhood have discovered that if they work in teams (3 - 4 squirrels at a time) and continually run up the pole and launch onto the ring, they can drain the battery rather quickly (1 -2 days) After that, the stabile ring offers them a great perch to glut themselves. I have watched them do this and then completely empty the seed tube in under 3 hours. Can we get a replacement battery pack that has a long-life rechargeable Lithium Ion battery?

OMG, if I knew how awesome, fun, and quality this feeder is a long time ago, I would have been a owner sooner! It is nothing like you think it is. It spins squirrels so dang fast that you actually think it will kill them! But, it really just makes them dizzy and really never hurts them. Just do not place the feeder too high in the air or you may hurt them. If you have a battle with squirrels then my friend you are about to start winning!! You will laugh so freekin hard when you see a squirrel unknowingly jump up on the feeder and clinch his little feet and paws and go for a centrifuge spin that will rival a NASA training course! Then.... After about 20 seconds of funny as heck "spin cycle" type spinning, the squirrel is rocketed off the feeder and then goes thru a hangover of about 10 seconds then pops right back to eating fallen seed, it is worth it! A great gift for all ages.Read full review

Great quality...made of metal, not plastic. Rotating ring has good speed and power and more than enough to toss a squirrel. Clearly, the length of the tube does a lot to detour squires even before they attempt to land on the sitting rings. I have yet to actually see one of my many squires to attempt a launch onto the rings. They now seem resigned to pick up the leftovers from the birds's droppings.and I delight in watching them fight each other over the leftovers. Too soon to determine how long the battery will last in between charges and I guess it will depend on how many attempts are made from the squirrels over time. For now, it's working great.

The Flipper Feeder really does protect your bird feeder by spinning and flipping the squirrels off of it. The feeder does add a new dimension of entertainment to your birdwatching. I decided to buy this product new, rather than buy replacement parts for the updated battery unit needed for the older model. The completely new feeder was only a few dollars more than the updated battery replacement unit. That said, my old model is 20 years old and still does a fine job of feeding the birds with safflower seed to deter the squirrels. I am very happy with the purchase!

This item I ordered is actually a gift for my daughter (her birds actually!). I am waiting for her to let me know if their pesky squirrel has enjoyed a spin around the yard.... I ordered it for her since I have had two of them for years and know they work, they are made well and last for ages with care, the battery in one needed replacing after about four years, I thought that was a good life. I charged it only randomly as the charge held well. If you have a squirrel that is insistent, the battery will fade more often but that only happened a few times (until they learned to ignore the feeder and go to an easier source). I used them in Maine in freezing weather, and now on the West coast with rain.... You do have to take them apart to clean the seed portal about every other week or so if there is a bit of rain or snow and the portal remains soggy (an easy chore). A good product.Read full review
