Any of the Magnavox DVD recorder work great as long as the lasers are kept clean. They usually accept just about any brand of blank DVD without issues. Just run a cleaning disk in it at least once per week. It's unfortunate that they are no longer available for sale in the US except for used ones. There are still a lot of us out there that still prefer recording DVDs so if you can find any used ones for sale, buy them before they are gone for good. The only bad thing is once the laser finally starts to go bad or wear out, you start getting the red error codes and the disk will be rejected.

This unit is the most awesome dvd recorder that I have ever found. I like to purchase cable and record shows to watch later. All of the new dvd and vcr recorders will NOT record any or the shows that have any sort of copy protection. THIS dvd recorder WILL RECORD the pay channels with no problem. This is the only model that I know of that can record. It only records the old NTSC, but my home system upgrades everything to 1080p that goes to the television. I had a unit that finally quit and found this on eBay. If you don't mind recording on the older dvd format like me, I highly recommend this model of recorder. I'm looking for another unit as a backup now!
