This tube replaced a worn out tube in a 1963 vintage H H Scott LK48 amplifier. The tube tested strong for emission and when installed yielded a strong and stable high voltage in the amplifier.. The tube uses an indirectly heated cathode which delays the high voltage for about 20 seconds to allow the other tubes to come to operating temperature before the voltage is applied which reduces stress on these tubes. Unlike some other replacements which are taller this tube adheres to the original height specifications so it fits properly when the amplifier cabinet is installed. The tube is an exact replacement for the original tube and fits and works perfectly and the amplifier sounds great.

Really makes a difference in your amp. I put this tube into a new Fender DeLuxe Reverb head after being disappointed with the sound (too much screechy highs). Simply changing that tube only made the amp sound "return" to the classic Fender sound (chimes) which I thought I was getting in the first place. I shouldn't let this secret out of the bag-the price will go up (even higher) and these tubes will become harder to find! Replacing the power tubes and pre-amp tubes will refine the tone further, but that is a more expensive proposition-start with the rectifier tube!

There were recommended by a friend, and they do provide cleaner power for a noticeably cleaner sound.. I went from the factory EH 5U4GB's that made a constant low hissing sound, to some Sylvania 5U4GB's NOS ridge plates that were quiet, to these, which are quieter, and have a slow start up, which is easier on the rest of the tubes.

I also have a NOS 1957 Metal Base GZ34 which is in its own unique category. While not up to the Metal Base, this is the other GZ34 to get, also an amazing performer and now my every day rectifier. I have tried GZ34’s from the 60’s and they don’t compare to the two above.

Thought I would try one since new production seems to be pretty spotty on quality. We'll see if it lasts 3 times as long.
