I bought this mainly for a home Fax Machine and it works great. It was very easy to set up and use. Connecting to my wireless network was also a breeze. It does print pics pretty good but is slower than a stand alone printer although quality is about even. Scanner is also slower than a stand alone unit and lacks some features but overall works OK. All in all I'm very happy with this unit and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cheap, easy to set-up and use multitask printer.
The Canon MX860 is pretty nice. For an all in one, this one is very stylish and reliable. I am however, a little disappointed with the print speed (black). I thought it would be a lot faster for basic documents. Overall it is nice to have the fax option as well as the separate back tray for printing photos. My favorite part is definitely the wireless print convenience. I bought this printer for my business and will need to really use most of the features this printer has to offer. I have yet to see how long the ink will last but ebay has some sweet deals on that anyway. I would recommend the MX860 for anyone that needs a good home all-in-one or small business.
The printer works well, warm up and response to commands is slow. The out put speed at fast print is nearly 5 sec per page. The paper tray for legal is different from the letter sized paper and switching from legal to standard is not executed by the unit with ease. Quality of print is good, have not tried it with photo print or other specialty formats. I like the double sided printing. I wish I could get the unit to automatically default to printing last page first.
I love this printer so much I had to fight my mother to keep it downstairs for the sake of impressing friends haha. In all seriousness..I never read product manuals..so this time I felt as though maybe I should..with the WiFi and all...I was wrong! Aside from *some* things which did need refrencing, setup was a real breeze. My windows (w/ windows 7 OS) as well as my sisters' Mac book were able to load the software and connect to the printer, via WiFi, flawlessly. This printer made our lives so much easier because we used to have to send emails to ourselves or use flash drives to export files to our desktop which DIDN'T have microsoft word, needless to say it made our lives heLL especially while I was in College. I had searched different printers via a list of top printer for 2010*. This Canon PIXMA MX860 was rated as #1 on a list of 10 others. If it wasn't for the superior picture printing capability I would have went with the HP InkJet printer which hold almost 4 times the amount of paper the cannon does nad prints 34 ppm (color) compared to the Canons 29 ppm (color). But, considering I'm not running a Corporation out of my home yet, haha, the canon proved most suitable for our needs. In my opinion, although only owning this printer for 2 days now..it blows away our dinosaur of a lexmark. And if I didn't mention already, the printer is SO easy to setup and configure. Canon really put their heads together when they designed this printer. A++++++++ !!!!! -Scubbyguy-Read full review
It was easy to set-up all functions. Directions (with pictures) made it a simple task, even for someone with limited computer savvy. On-line advanced manual was easy to download from Canon.com and easy to research interested areas. It does everything I needed a printer to do. Print, copy, scan (through the top and on a platen) and fax. Choose color or black ink printing at will. Photos can print 8.5 x 11" all the way to the edge. Cartridges are individual, not a three-fer. Two paper load areas, under front and standing up in the back for 8.5 x 14" paper or photo paper. This is my second Canon multi-function printer (first one lasted eight years of heavy use) and I wouldn't have anything else. Great price, too.
