In the year 1527, the Earl of Angus arrives at the home of his nieces, 5 year old Molly Gordon, the Maid of Dunsithe and her infant sister Bessie and takes them away. The girls have no protector since their father just died and their mother is helpless to stop her brother, the Earl, who has plans to control the wealth of Molly, who is the heiress. Before the Earl can snatch the children, their mother uses a heated ring to burn a mark on her daughter's chest. This will be the only way she will know her daughter if they meet again. Now the time is 12 years later and Sir Finlay "Wild Fin" Mackenzie comes to the Isle of Skye to take Molly, his king's chosen bride for him, back home to be his wife. Fin has his reasons to marry Molly. His people can use her riches, even though no one knows where they are hidden. The second reason is that he knows it will bring revenge against Molly's previous guardian, Donald of Sleat, who murdered his father. Fin and Molly find they are attracted to one another, but enemies want Molly and Fin dead rather than married. With the help of the 'little people' this makes an enchanting first part to a two part miniseries. A wonderful book of romantic suspense that only Ms. Scott could write. Next you will want to see what happens to Molly's youngest sister, Bessie....that is the second book in the "abducted heiress" seriesRead full review
