It was such a surprise hearing this great cd. Dave Nachmanoff's guitar playing is the best I've heard, whether electric or acoustic. He and Al worked well together. I shall now buy a copy for my sis too! Peter Noonan

I became an Al Stewart fan around the time of "Year of the cat" working backwards and forwards through his huge catalogue. This is an interesting live concert from recent years where all the older songs are revitalised with the duo of Al Stewart and Dave Nachmanoff, including "Bedsitter Images". The recording of the concert seems a rather high on sibilance for Al Stewarts vocals and the (thankfully) few 'talky' bits are actually quite difficult to hear. After noting this, the performance over three nights is of great quality and well worth buying for dedicated followers, if only for the rarer live songs that don't seem to have featured in tours since the 1970's ("Oh Carol", "News from Spain"). There is one 'new' song "Coldest winter in memory" (although I think this one is on one of the Al Stewart fan club releases. The arrangements of these songs have been updated with Dave Nachmanoff filling in a guitar solo instead of the original Rick Wakeman piano solo on some of the early numbers. The re-worked 'Midas shadow" from the iconic "Year of the cat" album makes the song revitalised after many years of listening. Basically - it's a good buy - go out and get it!Read full review
