Still in the honeymoon stage, but I think she's a keeper. I've never owned a guitar that played better, and maybe the most criminally under-hyped feature is the compensated nut. I have NEVER been more "in tune" on a guitar, to the point where it's almost unnerving. I still use my Tom Anderson as my main axe, mostly because I always know what to expect from it tone-wise, but the Silhouette Special is trying real hard to creep into first chair. My entire rig is built around the Anderson, so the changeover may have to come when old Mr. Anderson goes in for a desperately needed refret. Until then, I will sleep soundly knowing that my backup guitar is ridiculously good, too. Perhaps I need a bumper sticker "My Other Guitar is a..."!
This is a great, very versatile guitar. I've had Ibanez, G&Ls, PRS's guitars and they are all great for specific sound/puposes... The EBMM Silhouette Special crosses musical boundaries. I am able to get a very warm blues sound as well as a great rocking strat sound! The craftsmanship is second to none. Mine has the 3 single coil pickups with EB's patented noise cancelling circuitry. I played in an original band simular to Maroon 5 and the guitar worked perfectly! I used it almost exclusively unless I broke a string at a show... This is an incredibly underated guitar!
I own a Music Man Axis and I played the Silhouette Special in a store once and fell in love. My Axis acts like a Les Paul for me, but much lighter, faster, nicer pickups, and a perfect neck. I decided I wanted more of a strat guitar so I went for the Silhouette Special. The neck is gorgeous, and the pickups are beautiful... All in all, I would recommend this to ANYONE.
I own a couple of these. It's one of the few guitars you can play all night that doesn't sacrifice your tone no matter what style of music you're playing
