Well after selling off all my interfaces and what not to pay for a ProTools setup, I have to say it was quite expensive, even though I got a great deal. I use a dual core PC with Windows XP, and I have to say despite all the negative thoughts about PC's, I've never ever had one problem within the 5 years I've had the same computer. Anyways, when trying to install ProTools 8 LE, I started having problems. The installer would lock up, and would not install properly even though I was following the intruction manual step by step. Then after four hours of trying to tweek things to get the installer to work, still no success. So I had to contact Digidesign; turns out the installer for PC on many of the install discs released have corrupt files, which was causing my problems...So after downloading the repaired installer, it went fine, sort of...Anyways once everything was running, it works well. Editing is faster for me, the new plugins I have found useful. I have yet to dive into the deeper parts of ProTools but I've only had it like 3 months. The rack unit is sturdy, the mic pre's are okayish, kinda noisy. The front panel displays are easily readable, and two headphone outputs is great. It has MIDI and ADAT support as well. So the rack unit is good for the money, however ProTools 8 LE has many problems, some plugins interfere if you have IE 8, which is ridiculous. I did encounter some other problems with bouncing to disk (a video we produced with audio when bounced, the video would start in the middle instead of the beginning, and the audio would play from the begginning....???????), but then I used another ProTools LE setup with the same session at a friends studio and it worked fine....still clueless to why. So be ready for some hassles, I suggest downloading the newest verion 8.03 as soon as possible to avoid the complications I had. I explain these problems not to complain (trust me I did to Digidesign) but to let others know that they should expect some difficulty at first, but once its running its great.Read full review
This device is must have, if you into recording voices, music, etc, you can control four mics, control the monitor with a mute button, control tracks level. and many more feature... that I used personally You have a lot of control on the board it self..., Its a time saver machine..., it works great with the protools ver. software if you can afford it but it, but if you can't afford it buy the MBOX2 for now. the cons about this devices, it use alot of processing power. like 90% http://www.jamesbayfield.com
