Great smoothing plane
I love this plane ! It was packaged well and came wrapped in anti-rust paper. It was also liberally covered in oil, so that needs to be wiped off. The blade is nice and thick and comes fairly sharp out of the box. The major difference between this smoothing plane and others on the market is this one has an adjustable mouth, which makes it an excellent choice to use on difficult to smooth figured woods. It is also quite heavy for its size. This is an excellent value at about $135, it really does stand up against the much more expensive alternatives out there. Highly recommended

Best plain I ever purchased
I thought from other reviews I was going to have to really work on "Tuning Up" this plain. But to my great supprize it was already to use other than honing the iron and some very slight flattening of the base with some 2000 grit paper and a granite block. Total I spent about a half hour getting ready. Man does this plain work well. It weighs enough and shaves so good it is effertless to plain with. Excellent plain!
