As an American made instrument, the Music Man StingRay 5 is a fantastic "player's instrument". My StingRay 5 has always answered the bell. The neck is generally resistant to climate change (unlike my experience with Fender USA Jazz basses). The pickup selector has a wider range of tonal possibilities, beyond most other basses in it's price range. The StingRay 5's string spacing is a little narrower than their 4 string model - the slappers standard, but is still a good slap style instrument. When you consider playability, durability, tone quality, and the wide selection of colors and styles, the Ernie Ball StingRay 5 is one of the best 5 string instruments under $1500, right along side G&L and Fender. To get a superior instrument, you'll need to spend twice as much. It's gotta feel good in your hands, but once you clear that hurdle you'll have a bass for life.Read full review
Beautiful instrument, great tone, needed a little setup. Intonation was great, action a little high, G String slightly miss aligned is probably going to require a new nut and some adjustment on the neck :( oh well

The sound of this bass satisfied me better than other 5-string basses that I have possessed. The bass is not heavy. Good tone. Easy to play endnote boring.
