This is a great little recorder. The audio quality is pretty good--not the best, but good for things like dictation, lectures, etc. The mic is pretty sensitive, and the batteries have pretty long lifespan. The speaker on the recorder doesn't do too well when playing back more complex audio (e.g. musical performances), but the quality of the recording itself is pretty decent. My one dislike is that this model does not have a USB port. I use an audio patch cord to record the recordings onto my computer, which is a little tedious, but it gets the job done. If I had known about this earlier, I would probably gone with a different model. Overall: Small, compact, great to have on hand, but if you're going to need more space, or will want to transfer your audio files, I recommend getting a different model.Read full review
I love these things and they've become a necessity in my life. I've had quite a few of them and they work great but eventually they fail. I don't really hold that against them, I just buy another one. I especially like this (discontinued) model because of its intuitive controls and ease of use. I can still find it on ebay and I just bought two of them. (Avoid model 7200, which has a crazy-making 1-2 second delay before every function.)

1. Front panel design is very good, there is no mess or ugly odds there. 2. The highest speed recording makes great sound to listen for 80 hours max. 3. All standard connectors are equipped for a MIC and an Ear Phone. 4. Great LCD display helps operation which is reasonably arranged. 5. Only 2x AAA batteries are a little bit wary about it's lasting time. Well, use AAA lithium batteries to avoid a problem. 6. Too small size makes a problem to find it. It is user's problem. I am totally satisfied and I love the Olympus VN-6000.
If you're a musician on the go, a singer learning a vocal part or something with a bad memory, this is perfect for you. The sound quality is great for something it's size. Recording reminders, songs or anything is easy and can easily be organized. The 4 folders allow for easy access to each "genre" of recording. Plus, each segment is numbered in order within the folder. Overall, great for the price and worth a buy.
I was looking for a voice recorder to capture my lectures, The recording is very good quality So, if you are looking for a "record and erase" voice recorder, this is the right one. VERY nice for the price. First set of AAA batteries that came with lasted threw 3 seminars, each 2.5 to 3 hrs in length, before getting the "LOW" battery message. Usually sit a good 25 feet away, give or take, from the speaker and it picks up EVERY word clearly - as long as its pointed that way. *NO PC connectivity (but that wasn't why I bought it)* Simple press of RECORD during recording puts it in Pause mode. NOT voice activated, if that's what you need. Need to read the manual to figure out how to manage all the folders and for playback - and you'll have the minor pain of re-setting the clock when you replace the batteries (but all recordings safe when you do so).Read full review
