For a unit at the high end of the range, it has plenty of nice features for the price. The sound quality is good. HD radio sounds clear and the bluetooth sound quality is good. It is a couple of ticks more powerful than competitors so it can get a little louder (presumably). The built-in Bluetooth microphone is pretty weak. It's hard for the caller on the other end to hear while the car is moving down the road but there's no problem hearing. The big problem with this unit is the control structure. There are only a few buttons and a deep menu structure. It's not possible to do anything but change the volume or turn the unit off without taking your eyes off the road. It would be nice to have a more simple solution for things like the equalizer, ipod control, or making a phone call. Overall it's a nice unit that's worth the price but it's not perfect.Read full review

Huge improvement over 2003 stock ford radio. Even with existing speakers and no amp the sound was great. My only complaint is the ring tone using Bluetooth with incoming calls is ear piercing at high volume. For that reason I use the front aux input with a phone, which also sounded better for me. In the menu you can set aux input to low med high. Sensitive radio tuner and the cd player sounds great. Don't forget to make sure you have the latest firmware on the clarion website, that is very important. You press and hold the volume button and the 6 button to see the firmware version.

I had a CZ500 euro model for several years until it finally died. I sought out and found the CZ 505, the Flagship of the Clarion single DIN models. One thing I like a lot about this headunit is the Equalizer, switch it all the way to CUSTOM, because once you do this you have far more options to adjust, hit the sound note and then press down on the knob, and you get to an area that is fully customizable in BASS, MID and TREBLE with Q settings, Frequency settings, and the ability to adjust -6 to +6 4v preout for system expansion is good for SQ where most have 2v. And the display illumination is customizable to your liking. Front USB and Aux input, i've only used a USB stick at 16gb and it was able to see it without error or compatibility issues. I have not tested with 32gb or 64gb USB 2.0 yet. For USB If you have folders inside of folders with a lot of music it may not see all of the music if there are quite a few files due to some sort of limitation. I got around this by cutting the folder and pasting it on the USB stick outside of any other folders. Ive had quite a few headunits in my cars and trucks over the years, JVC Chameleon, various Alpines, Sony, and Pioneers but I definitely like the SQ and customizability of this headunit in comparison. It was difficult to find locally but easy to find online at about $160 US Dollars. Very solid headunit for the coin.Read full review
