I have only shot a few sighting shots. I put this piece on a mint 1974 Belgian BAR .243 with NOS Buehler mounts. It looks awesome. It came in very secure packaging with warranty & user info. It has very heavy crosshairs with somewhat finer crosshairs in the center. It should be very effective in low-light conditions. My BAR .270 has a comparable 1970 Leupold Vari-X II with very fine crosshairs & a dot reticle. Wonderful in open country & good light. But I think this Zeiss would be a better choice for anyone who hunts in dark woods. I'll admit that price was a factor. I'd just dropped 1K for the rifle with a cheapo scope & mounts. I think that with this Zeiss I got the most scope a guy will get for under $300 & it seems right at home on the BAR. Not too big. Like I said, the entire rig is so totally gnarly that this old rifle-nut is reluctant to take it hunting. I'll probably start with coyotes near the house & Columbia blacktail (mule sub specie) ) deer next fall after a bit of newness has worn-off.Read full review
