Who says you loose playability?
The Schilke 57 trombone mouthpiece was a great purchase! The flow is smooth with a deep (darker) resonating sound; it's more forgiving; and, I do not loose tone. It's, perhaps, my favorite mouthpiece and not just because of the weight or its look, but because I love the sound it produces. Great job, Schilke!!!
