Did my research on crossbows, and opted to stay with simplicity. This bow doesn't need wheels or pulleys like many others, but let me tell you, it get's the job DONE !! Took it to the range and within 8 shots, had it dialed in from 20-50 yards. Bow is medium in weight, and takes some getting used to when using the cocking rope, but the scope is clear, lighted (in red or green for low light) and deadly ! Had a nice 6 pt come in at 50 yards, and at 380 feet per second buried the carbon bolt right where it needed to be. The bow did make slight noise when releasing the arrow, but the deer didn't have time to flinch before the arrow met it's mark. I would have never attempted a 50 yard shot until I purchased this bow, but this one sent it thru and thru, and continued another 20 yards ! This bow may be pricey, but you get what you pay for ! I'm sold on Excaliber.Read full review

Received and was impressed with the feel, fit and finish. Assembly was very easy, all parts fit precisely without issues. After assembly/installing scope it took four shots to sight in at twenty yards. Four more shots to center spot a group at twenty. (DO NOT shoot more than one bolt at a spot unless you like to waste money). Trigger pull is extremely smooth and crisp. It is fast. C'bow is not as loud as I thought it would be compared to the model I have been shooting previously with cams. For my size (over 6') this C'bow fits perfect; length of pull, cheek piece, and foregrip. The scope has positive clicks and is easy to adjust. The added benefit of being able to change the reticle form black to red or green helps in low light conditions.

I'm a big believer in recurve crossbows. You can change the string without a press and don't really need to return to the pro shop after buying one! It's a little bigger than a lot of compounds but will hold it's accuracy longer and with no cams to go out of time, has very little maintenance

The 405 is a nice bow that is a little hard to pull back for some. It seems to hit hard and accurate. The Excalibur company seems to be a little shy of the 405. It's no longer on their site. Maybe try the 380 or the new 400. Either way, the company is known for fixing any problems. So, if you get a good deal on a 405, take it.

Shot the bow several times now. It is a tack driver, and very accurate with the supplied scope out to 60 yards.
