I have been hunting with a bow for longer than most active achers have been alive. When I decided to replace my old Martin Pro X 10 with something more modern I did alot of research and decided on the Mathews DXT. I just got it in the mail today and after the first 50 arrows, heres My first impression. It is much smaller than what I'm used to but,it will be much easier to use in heavy cover. It's draw cycle is decidedly smoother than the newer Mathews Reezen; which I tried at a local dealer. Bow is extremely smooth and quit, but Im not completely sold on the accuracy yet. It came with a Thophy Ridge Shakey Hunter arrow rest; appears to produce a clean launch,a large bore peep sight; it's not what I'm used to and I don't like it because it's too hard to find the exact center consistently and requires to much eye movement which causes loss of focus on longer shots, a Viper micro-tune sight in lost camo with 6 in. extention; excellent design and quaity and quick adjust features with great extended sight line for improved accuracy (love it), what I believe to be a Feather-Lite 8 in. stabilizer also in lost camo; It's hard to comment on this because I'm still not sure of manufacturer, but it is a 3 rod stabilizer of obvious quality. However, combining it with the extended sight, makes the DXT too front heavy for me and lastly,a Scott release; It's an index finger trigger model (not sure of model number); I will say that it released twice before I intended. I thought I new what a hair trigger was. It will take a while before I'm comfortable enough to trust myself with it in a actual hunting situation. It is a beautiful setup and overall I'm quite pleased. I believe that My accuracy concerns will be over come when I change to a micro-peep and adjust its' postion higher on the string so I don't have to wrench my neck to look through it. Most if not all of my concerns stem from a lack of familiarity with this equipment and I feel comfortable saying I made a great decision for sure on the DXT and Viper sight. Go ahead...buy one! Personally, I feel the Mathews DXT bow is the next best thing to Z7's and Heli-M. 1. The axle to axle is near the same. Few others are shorter axle to axle. (Z7Extreme for example) 2. Is as light or lighter by comparison then many Mathews models. 3. Very competitive on all levels with speed and accuracy. 4. Out there are some really nice DXT's for sale reasonable. 5. Parts if needed are available. Even used components. 6. Nice used DXT's are the best bang for the buck by Mathews if you think my opinion is viable. I own 2 DXT's, I Z7 Extreme, and 3 Martins. Just between you and me... Mathews are great bows, but if you like to save a little money and still wish to own a great bow. **Check out Martin's... I love them for various reasons. (Cost, adjustability, and different design features to name a few. Shoot every bow you can... You will find the right one for you. Learn to tune them properly. You'll appreciate the results. I have only bought 2 new bows. 1 30 years ago and the other 2 yrs. ago. Call me cheap or frugal... That's okay... I feel the used bows have experience, character, and most any bow will last if reasonably cared for and not abused. I have passed other bows to friends in hopes of getting them interested in archery and hunting. Whatever works for you is my main opinion... These work for me and I have yet to be disappointed. Have fun. Rick KYRead full review
Aldo Mathews Bows are some of the most expensive on the market the quality can't be compared to many others. Your find you'll spend more money for the authentic Mathews accessories but they're well worth it. This bow shoots beautifully.

I have owned a Mathews bow since 1997, it was the Z-light, one of Mathews first bows.. I never have had, the first problem. Mathews continues to make improvement's, that I like. I have shoot a lot of different kids of bow's. I got the Mathews Hyperlite Bow, because it's the lightest bow in the Mathews line up, smooth draw, solid, quiet, short axle to axle, easier to use in a treestand, or my double bull blind. The DXT, was going to be my second choice if I had not got the Hyperlite.
No doubt about it, Mathews makes the best compound bows out there! The DXT is a GREAT bow, especially for tree stand and ground blind hunters! The size and feel is great, It's fast, powerful, accurate as can be, very quite and forgiving. I've been flingin' arrows since I was eight years old and this bow has the smoothest draw cycle and let down I have ever experienced. This is an all around wonderful hunting bow. Bow hunting and efficient archery takes great discipline, but I will admit that properly set up, this bow can help make it look easy sometimes. Phenomenal bow! That's as simple as it is.
