I bought this bow mainly because of its unique appearance. It looks kind of like a Mongolian style re-curve, and yet it has a set of cables and pulleys that make it sort of a hybrid re-curve design that provides the advantages of a compound bow. Since this style of bow was new to me, I did quite a bit of research before bidding on it. What I learned sounded really good and then did I mentioned how good it looks. The bow has adjustments for draw weight, draw length, amount of let-off etc. I really liked the idea of being able to tune it for my specific needs. The bow arrived well packed and in great condition. I could hardly wait to get it out to the range and shoot it, however that had to wait until I had learned much more about how to adjust the draw weight and draw length etc. I was able to download a pretty comprehensive manual for it and even found plans from Oneida for building a bow press for it, out of simple materials I already had in my shop. The bow press came in very handy when I moved the peep site where I needed it. I also added a D Loop for a release aid and finally I was ready to go. Yes, it shoots as well as the reviews stated. Very nice accuracy. This is fairly old technology, so the carrying weight is a little heavy, compared to more modern bows, but overall, I am very happy with it, and it just looks so darn good.Read full review
I have been shooting bows for 32 years. when you conisder the latest advancement in compound bow technology like parallel limb, high reflexed risers, and large cams, the Oneida seems to be obsolete. It is long, too many moving parts, and it is slower than the new breed of compound bows. But the Oneida was ahead of its time when it came out. a rather intelligent design that combined the function of a recurve and compound bow. I have always wanted to have one just to add it to my collection. The bow has definitely a beauty of its own. My bow was a 2002 Model year and it came ready to shoot. It is a pleasure to shoot and at 30 yards, 2 inch groups are very common. However, it is not the fastest and most compact bow and hunting with it from a tree stand will be difficult. But this is not why I got that bow but rather for its uniqueness. If you collect bows, This one should be high on your list.Read full review
Very smooth shooting bow with a combination of precision and accuracy. The Oneida bow series are smoother than traditional compounds. They are great finger shooting bows and have a ton of adjustability without a bowpress. Also an oneida can be snap shot anywhere in the draw cycle for those fast running shots. They are not for everyone but do make great bowfishing, hunting and pinshot bows. Lastly and most importantly they are tough as nails.
Amazing bow kept in good shape and the shipping was quick
