Jupiter makes a nice beginners' flute, and while the model numbers have changed a bit, the basic flute has not. This is it; it's a standard C flute, silver-plated (over nickel silver). Like most flutes of this type, it has plateau keys - or "closed hole" keys. There are top adjustment screws (making adjustments easier), a feature common to flutes in the academic models market. Jupiter stands out in a couple of ways. The offset G is a nice feature that makes this flute a bit better than some others. The Jupiter CXL flute features a gold-plated lip plate on its sterling silver riser. These two touches are both marked differences from others in its class. The sterling riser contributes to a better tone quality. The gold lip plate, while of debatable utility, is a beautiful addition to an otherwise pretty standard instrument. It looks NICE. (It might help tone. It will help those who have allergies to metals like nickel.) Lastly Jupiter's CXL is smooth - everything is adjusted and regulated so elegantly that playing the flute is a pleasure; it is easy and a joy. A beginner shouldn't have to fight a flute to play it. Tjis one is a winner for pure ease in playing.Read full review
