It's a keeper with having so much in a small package. Sound quality of the effects is high. Will say that most of the presets are way too wet and some are even ridiculously unusable until you modify them, so it is not very usable "straight out of the box," as some have said. It's not easy or hard to figure out, rather in between, and not everything is intuitive. Have to have patience and it's hard to know if you're achieving the BEST sound you can when modifying presets.

This pedal is awesome. The sound is incredible. I have only begun to explore all the possibilities this has to offer. It is infinitely tweakable. Using the app makes exploring this pedal very easy. I would like to be able to combine various algorithms, but that requires two pedals or buying the new model. The only thing I haven't been able to adjust to my taste is the chorus effects. Could be I just need more time?? The value comes from having all pedals combined in one.

The sounds and software for the H9 MAX are simply amazing. Unfortunately, I had to return a new H9 I recently purchased because of a pedal design change which removed the input gain adjustment feature from the pedal/software. This means the H9 is an instrument level pedal that will have problems in line level applications (effects loops of amps) especially if used with other effects in the loop running at line level. The design change was not a pedal enhancement, but a step the company has taken due to "the chip shortage". Here is what Eventide says about the lack of input gain adjustments on the H9 at the end of 2022: "Unfortunately, there isn't anything that can be done on the actual H9. You can try putting a boost or buffer pedal before the H9 to see if you can boost the input level in that manner. Or, you can try using it in front of the amp and not in the effects loop. Due to the chip shortage, we had to change the hardware because of supply chain issues, which meant that the input gain featured was removed. Sorry for any inconvenience." I had hoped then to at least globally boost the output gain of the pedal. However, Eventide reports that: "The output level is not a global setting. It's done on a per preset basis. So, if it helps, then you will need to change this setting for every preset that you use and resave them." I found that if I adjust the output of each pedal preset to ramp the signal back up from -20db, the signal is all effect, so you have to back the mix off to around 20% wet to hear any of your dry tone, all while increasing the noise floor. At that setting the H9 effects lose some depth (compared to Strymons running at line level) and the playing dynamics are all off. The older H9's (with the input gain adjustment chip) are the versions to find. Unfortunately, the new H9's without the chip are limited to placement in front of amps or in a parallel effects loop if it is also adjustable, and you are just running in H9's there. For me, only when an adjustable global input gain is added back to the H9, will I be back in the markRead full review

Wow- some really beautiful and compelling effects can be had on this box. I really enjoyed going through all the many presets and look forward to tweaking some on my Mac with the editor software to make them sound exactly to my specs. I bought the H9 for the really long, lush, moody, spacey reverb patches mostly, and there's some gorgeous ones ! It's fairly straight-forward to use once you read the manual and learn the controls. Seems well designed and robust in construction. Go for it !

This pedal is at a great price point for all that you get. Bluetooth control with an iOS app is a huge plus as well. Highly recommended!
